Platform Configuration

Shown to operators and riders across the apps and on official correspondence.

Safety & Geofence Defaults

Applied to every new operating zone. Operators may tighten these but not loosen them.

Default zone radius

Telematics ingest target

Tracker-loss action
s
Auto-escalate SOS to rescue

Defaults reflect SRS NFR-04 (ingest < 10 s, tracker-loss action < 30 s).

Region & Format

How dates, money and distances appear everywhere in the platform.

BSD is pegged 1:1 to USD, so both display the same amounts.

Availability

Use maintenance mode for planned upgrades. Safety systems are never taken offline.

Booking Rules

Platform-wide limits. Operators set their own within these bounds.

Read live by Packages & Slots and by the booking engine. A departure that breaks the operating window below cannot be published.

Sobriety confirmation

Pre-Ride Orientation

The statutory briefing. Each item is initialled by the rider in-app and stored with a timestamp against the trip.

Minimum briefing duration

Block trip start until all items are initialled

All eight items are prescribed. Unchecking one changes what riders are asked to attest to — record the reason before saving.

Cancellation & Refunds

Default policy. Operators may be more generous, never less.

Operating Hours

Sundays & public holidays

Islands, locations and pickup points

The platform register. Operators are assigned locations from this list and choose which pickup points they work from — neither side can invent one.

#IslandTypeLocation Pickup points & pins Status

Withdrawing is not deleting. A location or pickup point that has carried a booking is part of that booking's history, so it is marked inactive and everything beneath it goes with it.

Speed & Zone Enforcement

Breaches raise an alert to the operator and the Port Department console.

Act s.17.

Case Assignment Defaults

Where a new case waits before an officer takes it. A default is a holding queue, not an assignment — the case still counts as unclaimed on the board, and the time-to-close clock does not start until a named officer picks it up in the case panel.

Queues are units, never individuals. Auto-attributing a case to a named officer who never saw it would put a false holder in the audit trail, and that trail can be produced in evidence.

Notices are not listed: a fixed-penalty notice already carries its issuing officer as a matter of record, so it has no default to set.

Weather Stand-Down

Automatic suspension of new trips when conditions cross a threshold. Trips already on the water get a recall notice.

Statutory Craft Registration Fees

Second Schedule of the Regulations. Rates are versioned and effective-dated: a charge records the version it was raised under, so an assessment stays reconcilable after the Gazette changes.

v1 Loading schedule…
Craft lengthFirst registrationAnnual renewal

Registrations and licences expire on 31 December (BR-69), so renewals are billed as a December cycle for the whole register rather than on each operator’s anniversary.

Operator Licence Fees

Annual licence classes and one-off transactions.

Licence / transactionFee

Class A/B/D activity mapping is still outstanding with the Authority (open item C-41).

Platform Revenue

What Book Bahamas takes from each booking, and when operators get paid. These terms are platform-wide — they apply to every operator and are shown on each operator record rather than set per company. Commission is Book Bahamas income, not state revenue.

The transponder penalty is the likely legal hook for the tracking mandate — applicability to jet skis is still unconfirmed (open item C-42).
